Recently two wins for education have occured. A federal judge blocked President Trump's executive order to dismantle the Department of Education and ordered the department to reinstate employees that were fired during mass firings. Two consolidated lawsuits argued that Trump's ploy "amounted to an illegal closure of the Education Department," saying that the plan would make the department's carrying out of duties that are required by congress impossible. The second big win for education comes in a 4-4 SCOTUS ruling that essentially blocked a religious charter school from being created in Oklahoma. Since the ruling is a tie, the lower court's ruling that the school cannot be created still stands.
