A primarily Gen Z crowd of protestors took to the streets in Nepal to protest against government corruption. On September 9, protestors set fire to the Nepali parliament building in Kathmandu, the nation's capital. Protests were caused by a ban on social media platforms that emerged in the midst of widespread civil unrest due to the Nepali government's corruption and the nepotism involving children of some politicians. The ban has since been lifted. The army chief of Nepal said that "all security institutions, including the Nepal Army, are committed to taking control of the situation," should the demonstrations continue. Nepali Prime Minister Sharma Oli also resigned during this period of civil unrest and protests. Nineteen people were killed by government forces in Nepal during the duration of the demonstrations.
