On July 4, 2025, President Trump's huge spending and tax bill, the "Big, Beautiful Bill," was signed into law. The controversial bill passed congress on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Some of the major policies included in the 887-page law are as follows:
Medicaid restrictions (estimated 11.8 million Americans lose coverage)
Homeland Security ($46.5 billion for wall creation, $45 billion to increase the capacity of detention for immigrants in custody, $30 billion for U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and a minimum $100 fee to apply for asylum)
Increasing state and local tax deduction (From $10,000 to $40,000)
Termination of green energy tax benefits (termination of incentives for clean energy, electric cars, and more)
Food stamp restrictions
Raising the debt ceiling by $5 trillion
Child tax credit increase (To $2,200 from $2,000)
