Representative Gerry Connolly of Virginia's 11th congressional district has died at the age of 75 after battling esophageal cancer. Former President Joe Biden said that Connolly was "a man of deep integrity, principle, and purpose," and that "he was a dear friend, a fierce leader for working families, and someone I was proud to partner with throughout our careers." Connolly's family commented "We were fortunate to share Gerry with Northern Virginia for nearly 40 years because that was his joy, his purpose, and his passion. His absence will leave a hole in our hearts, but we are proud that his life’s work will endure for future generations."
